PATUMAHOE SCHOOL NEWSLETTER

Term 4 Week 7                                                                    December 7 2011

DEAR PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS

This is the final newsletter for 2011.  The year has been a full and successful one.  Our school has reported to the Board regarding our National Standards achievement with the Reading, Writing and Numeracy goals being met.  In all learning areas, the children and staff have demonstrated a high level of participation resulting in some amazing experiences.  We can be very proud of our ‘Paddock to Plate’ project, the aeroplane healthy lunches and the school operetta to name a few.  I wish to thank the PTA, the Board of Trustees, the parents and the community for the wonderful support enabling our school to continue to strive for excellence.

YEAR 6 CAMP

The Year 6 pupils are out and about in Central Auckland on their Amazing Race Camp.  We wish them all the best for this great opportunity.

JUNIOR FUN DAY – WHEELS, WATER & WALK

Kids come dressed for a Christmas theme Mufti Day, this Friday 9 December.  Children will need togs and towel, a change of clothes, hat, sunscreen and a packed lunch for a picnic.

PRIZEGIVING

Our school prize giving will be on Monday 12 December, at 1 pm in the school hall.  Reports will be handed out after the prize giving.  Everyone welcome.

SCHOOL FINISH DATES & TIMES

The school will close on Tuesday 13 December at 12.o0 pm.  The buses will run at 12.00 pm and will arrive in Pukekohe from about 12.30pm.  Our first day back at school is Tuesday 31 January.

UNIFORM SHOP

The uniform shop will be open on Thursday 26 January from 9am until 12midday, (in the old admin block).

STATIONARY

  • Stationary packs will be for sale on Thursday 26 January from 9am until 12midday, (sold from the old admin office).  Packs will also be available from the first day of school.
  • We thought it important to warn families that the costs to start school will include $20 for Mathletics and a new junior maths book for $13 that will replace many worksheets.  This will be on top of the normal stationary pack prices.

PTA

The PTA would like to say a big thank you to all our families for all their help with this year’s fundraising events.  A heads up for next year – the school gala is on Sunday 11 march.  So if you are having a clean out over the holidays, please save us your unwanted items for the White Elephant Stall!  The theme for the kids photography competition will be ‘family fun time’.  And remember to keep watering those pumpkins!  Have a Merry Christmas from the PTA.

TRAVELWISE

We have one more Friday to walk, bus and carpool to school this year.  Let’s get out of our cars and onto the walking bus or carpool together.  Teachers may also be out walking this Friday.  For extra fun – it’s ‘Funky Feet Friday’.  Awards for the best dressed feet!

READERS RETURNS

Please hunt high and low for junior readers and send back to school.

CONGRATULATIONS

To Devon Woods-Davidson, for passing the Trinity College Grade 3 Speech and Drama Exam, with Distinction.

LIBRARY BOOK RETURNS

At the end of each year we conduct a stock take of our Library.  As you can imagine this is quite a big job!  Unfortunately this year we have a number of fairly new books that are classed as ‘not found’ and have not been formally issued out of the Library.  If you find any Patumahoe School Library books lurking at your place, please send them back to school.
